National Institue Of Malaria Research

We are tucked away in a small lane in Burari, right near Nehru Gali in West Sant Nagar. The building is H.No.19/2 and it isn’t very big, but we get a lot done here every day. Most of the time, the team is busy looking at samples or talking about data related to malaria and how it spreads in different areas. It gets quite hot in this part of Delhi during the summer months, and Gali No.2 can get a bit crowded with people and scooters passing by. We have been at this address for a while now, and the neighbors know us as the people who work with bugs and microscopes. It is not a fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. Just a regular building where we try to figure out how to stop people from getting sick. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power cuts out for a bit, but we just keep going. Usually, there is a lot of paper piled up on the desks and researchers are constantly moving back and forth between the different rooms. We drink a lot of tea from the shop around the corner to keep our energy up. It is a quiet kind of work but very important for the community here and beyond. Being based in West Sant Nagar keeps us close to the real conditions people face. It’s just our daily life here, working on science in a normal Delhi neighborhood.
