Our shop is over at Prahladpur Banger B-145, squeezed in between a tailor and a small tea stall. It’s called Mobile Planet, but it’s really just a small room with glass counters filled with phone cases and chargers. We spend most of the day looking at cracked screens or trying to figure out why someone’s battery won’t hold a charge anymore. The light inside is a bit too bright, which makes it easier to see the tiny screws inside the phones. We have a couple of stools for people to sit on while they wait, but they are a bit wobbly now. The walls have posters of phones that aren't even made anymore, but we haven't bothered to take them down yet. It gets pretty hot in the summer because the small AC unit we have struggles to keep up with the heat coming through the front door. People from the neighborhood come in all the time, sometimes just to ask how to use an app or to get a new screen guard put on. We try to keep things organized, but there are always wires and tools scattered across the back workbench. It’s a busy little corner, and there is always someone coming in with a phone that stopped working for no reason. We just do our work, drink a lot of chai, and watch the traffic go by outside on the main road. It is just a regular local shop.
