Mithala Telecom

Tucked away in Gali No. 2 of Karawal Nagar, near Nanak Dairy, is where we set up Mithala Telecom. We are at D-56 in Ankur Enclave. It is a bit of a walk through the lanes to get here, but the local people know the way. The shop is small and sits right on the edge of the street. We see kids playing outside and cows walking past every day. It’s a very local atmosphere. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. People come to us because we’ve been here and they trust that we won't overcharge them for small repairs. Most of our work is just handling everyday phone troubles. It gets quite dusty here because of the unpaved parts of the road nearby, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the displays. We have a small radio that plays in the background. My brother and I run the place. We take turns going for lunch so the shop stays open. Sometimes customers bring us sweets during festivals, which is nice. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Delhi, just a reliable one for this specific corner of Karawal Nagar. It’s a simple business. We close up when the street lights come on and the area starts to quiet down. We've seen many changes in the enclave over the years, but we stay right here. It is home for us.
