Mintu Scooter Centre

If you know Karol Bagh, you know how packed Elahi Bux Road gets, especially around Naiwala. That is where you will find Mintu Scooter Centre at T 2502. The whole street is basically nothing but spare parts, grease, and the sound of engines being revved up to see if they’re fixed. My hands are usually pretty dirty by ten in the morning because there is always a scooter that needs something taken apart. We have parts stacked up high, almost reaching the ceiling in some corners, and I’m the only one who really knows where the specific bolt for a ten-year-old model is hidden. It’s a bit chaotic, honestly. People pull up on their two-wheelers, shouting over the noise of the traffic to tell us what’s rattling or leaking. We don’t have a fancy waiting room or air conditioning, just a few wooden benches and the smell of oil and petrol that never really goes away. It is honest work, and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. The Naiwala area is famous for this kind of stuff, and we have been a part of that fabric for a long time. Some days it is so hot that the metal tools almost burn your hands, but we just keep at it. T 2502 is a small space, but it’s ours, and we know every inch of it. There is always another scooter coming around the corner needing help.
