Our office is located in Shakur Basti, specifically at H.No. 639 A/4 in Sri Nagar. If you know where Abhay Jewellers is on Gali No-2, we are right near there. It’s a residential area, so it feels more like a home than a corporate building. We started Midtown Travels Pvt. Ltd because we knew a lot about getting around Delhi and booking trains for our relatives. Now we do a bit of everything for the public. The desk is usually covered in notebooks and printouts of flight schedules that we highlight by hand. It gets a little cramped when more than two people visit at once, but we make it work by moving some chairs around. We have a small ceiling fan that runs all day to keep the air moving, though it makes a bit of a clicking sound. My brother does most of the driving for the airport runs and I handle the bookings on the old computer. We don't really do much advertising; people mostly find us because they live in the same lane or their neighbors told them about us over tea. It’s nice being in a place where we know the shopkeepers next door and they tell us when a letter arrives. We keep the door open most of the time unless it’s too dusty or noisy outside. Sometimes the kids are playing cricket in the street right outside the front step. We just focus on getting the tickets booked and making sure the cars are ready on time and the routes are planned out.
