Merchant Ship

Our office is actually a house, H.No.803/6 in Block-C of Shiv Colony. This is over in Palla No.1, Sarai Khwaja, which is in Faridabad. The Haryana 121003 pin code is what we use. It’s funny because the name is Merchant Ship, but we are nowhere near the ocean. We’re in a regular residential colony where kids play in the street and people hang their laundry out to dry. The house has been converted so we can work out of it. We use the main rooms for our desks and computers. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, so it’s relatively quiet compared to the center of Faridabad. The walls are painted a simple white, and we have a few old fans that make a bit of a clicking sound when they’re on high speed. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room with magazines. If someone comes by, they just knock on the door and one of us lets them in. We drink a lot of chai during the day, usually made on a small stove in the back. The neighborhood of Shiv Colony is pretty tight-knit, so everyone knows we’re the ship people even if they don't quite know what we do all day. It’s just a practical way to have a workspace without all the overhead of a big city office building. We like it because it’s simple and we don't have to put on shows.
