Manik Electronics

Rohini Sector 16 is where we stay busy at Manik Electronics. The shop is located at G-7/244. It’s a bit of a tight space once you get all the boxes in. I’ve been sitting behind this counter for a long time now. Most days start with sweeping the dust off the front step because the road outside is always kicking up something. We have rows of shelves filled with everything from switches to capacitors. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but I can usually find the right fuse or wire if you give me a minute. People from around the neighborhood stop by for small things, like a bulb that burnt out or a remote that needs new batteries. Sometimes the fan in the corner makes a clicking sound that drives me a bit crazy, but I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. My neighbor from the shop next door usually comes by around four with some tea. We talk about the weather or how busy the market is getting. The afternoons can get pretty hot in Rohini, especially in the summer, and the small cooler we have doesn't always do the trick. We just keep going anyway. It’s just a normal electronics shop, nothing special or flashy about it. We do some repairs when people bring things in, though it takes time if I’m alone. I try to be honest about how long it will take. It’s just how we live here.
