Our place is tucked away at Rzf-2/123 in Gali No. 5. If you know Mahavir Enclave, you know these streets can be a bit of a squeeze. We’ve been here for a while now, surrounded by the sound of sawing and the smell of wood polish. It’s a messy job, honestly. There’s always sawdust on our clothes and on the floor, no matter how much we sweep. We don't have a big, shiny showroom like the stores in the mall. Instead, we have pieces of furniture in different stages of being finished. A chair frame here, a half-painted table there. It’s a bit crowded, and you have to watch your step so you don’t trip over a piece of timber. People from the neighborhood usually just pop their heads in to ask if we can fix a broken cabinet or make something new for their house. We don't have a fancy way of talking to people. We just tell them what can be done and how long it might take. Sometimes the wood delivery gets stuck at the end of the gali because the truck is too big. We have to go out and help them move things. It’s just a regular day for us. We like the work, even if it's tiring and our hands are always rough. It’s local, it’s noisy, and it’s home.
