Divya Furniture is right here at A-1441 in Prem Nagar 3. If you know the Mubarakpur area, you know it gets pretty busy with people and rickshaws moving through the narrow lanes. Our shop is filled with the smell of cut wood and sawdust most of the time. We spend our days measuring boards and putting things together by hand. It’s a dusty place, and there are stacks of plywood leaning against the walls. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. Instead, you'll see half-finished chairs or bed frames sitting around waiting for the final polish. The fans overhead try their best to keep the heat away, but it still gets quite warm in the afternoons. Sometimes the sound of the saws is so loud we can’t hear the phone ringing. We’ve been at this Prem Nagar 3 spot for quite a while now. Neighbors often drop in to see what we are making or to talk about a repair they need for an old cupboard. We keep our tools on a worn-out wooden bench that has seen many years of use. It’s hard work and our clothes are always covered in wood shavings by the end of the day. When the sun goes down, we start sweeping up the floor to get ready for the next morning. It’s just a simple local workshop where we focus on getting the wood to fit together right.
