M. Dutta & Sons

M. Dutta & Sons has been located here at Plot No.4C on Flag Staff Road for quite a while. Being in the Civil Line area gives the place a bit of a quiet feel compared to the rest of the city. The building is solid, made of old brick, and it stays relatively cool inside during the summer. We have a lot of history in these walls, though we don't talk about it much. It is just where we work. The yard outside is where most of the action happens, with things being loaded and unloaded throughout the day. We have a small office inside that smells a bit like old paper and tea. There are stacks of files everywhere because we haven't really gone digital with everything yet. The furniture is heavy wood and has been here since the beginning. Sometimes the gate on Flag Staff Road squeaks when you open it, and we always say we should oil it, but we never do. It is one of those things you just live with. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a modern look. We just do our jobs and go home to our families. The street outside is lined with trees, which makes for a nice view when we take a break. It's a steady life here. We know the neighbors and the people who walk their dogs past the plot every morning. It feels right to be part of the neighborhood. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks.
