Our place is located at 31A Gurunanak Charitable Trust on Nicholson Road, right near the Delhi G P O in Kashmere Gate. This part of the city is always packed, and the traffic on the road can be a nightmare sometimes. We’ve been operating out of this spot for quite a while. The building has that old Delhi feel to it, with narrow stairs and high ceilings. We handle a lot of sales and distribution work, mostly involving parts and hardware. There are always crates being moved around or invoices being stamped. It’s a noisy environment because of the constant movement of rickshaws and loaders outside. Inside, it’s a bit calmer, but we are always busy with something. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon. The walls are lined with old shelves that hold plenty of stock. It’s not a place for looking pretty; it’s a place for work. We deal with many different suppliers and customers throughout the week. Sometimes deliveries are late because of the congestion at the Gate, and we just have to wait it out. Every morning we sweep the front and get ready for the day’s orders. It’s a grind, but it’s our grind. We know the shortcuts through the alleys when the main road is blocked. You just learn to deal with the chaos of Kashmere Gate after a few years of being here. There's always someone looking for a specific part number.
