Lonely India

You can find us over at C 103 in Ganesh Nagar. It’s a busy little spot and we have been here for a good while. Lonely India is run out of this small office where the front door always sticks a little bit in the rainy season. Inside, we have two main desks and a shelf that is sagging under the weight of all the old travel guides and folders we’ve collected. We spend a lot of our time looking at screens and talking on the phone. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, so we just sit and wait or do some filing by hand. There is a small window that looks out onto the street where we can see the fruit sellers and the kids walking to school. We aren't big on decorations, so the walls are mostly covered in notes and phone numbers scribbled on scraps of paper. It gets a bit dusty in here no matter how much we clean, but that’s just the way it is. Most of our clients are people from the neighborhood who know us by name. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know how to handle the bookings. We try to stay on top of things, though it feels like there is always one more form to fill out. It’s a simple life here and we like being part of the local community in Ganesh Nagar.
