Our little office is tucked away in Mandir Wali Gali. If you know West Patel Nagar, you know how these streets are. It’s 2240, easy to miss if you aren't looking for the sign. We spend most of our time looking at ticket prices and trying to figure out the best routes for people who want to go home for the holidays or take a small trip. It’s just a couple of us here. The computer screens are always bright and the phone rings quite a bit. Sometimes people just walk in to ask for directions because the gali is a bit confusing. We don't mind. We've got a small fan that wobbles a lot but it helps when the Delhi heat gets bad in May. We handle a lot of bus and train bookings mostly. It’s not a big corporate setup. We use some old notebooks to keep track of things because sometimes the digital stuff is just too much. The chai guy comes by twice a day and that’s usually when we take a break. It is a simple way to earn a living. We know the neighbors and the shopkeepers around here. It feels like home even when work is stressful. We try to be helpful when someone is confused about their travel dates. That is basically what happens here every day in our small corner of Patel Nagar.
