Our place is down in Vashali, Sector 4, at 371 G-3. It’s a busy spot in Ghaziabad where we handle a lot of clothes and fabric every day. The machines are usually humming from early morning. We aren't some massive factory; it’s more of a local operation where everyone knows each other’s names. We spend a lot of time checking seams and making sure the colors look right under the lights. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out or use the back-up. That’s just life in Uttar Pradesh. We started small and stayed that way because it's easier to manage the quality when you can see everything happening on the floor. There are stacks of boxes near the door waiting to go out. We don’t have a fancy showroom with mannequins. It’s just a workspace where we get things done. My uncle used to work in textiles, so he taught us a few things about how to pick the right threads. We don’t really do advertisements or anything like that. People mostly find out about us through word of mouth around the neighborhood. It gets hot in the summer with all the irons going, but we have a few fans that keep the air moving. It’s a lot of hard work, but we like seeing the finished products stacked up and ready to go. We just try to stay on top of the orders each week.
