Kushtaub (South Indian Resturant)

Kushtaub is our little South Indian spot. We are located at House Number 69 in Masoodpur, which is part of Vasant Kunj. It’s actually under the care of Rengit Mallik. If you are looking for us, we are right there in the middle of the residential area. The kitchen is almost always busy. You can smell the sambar and the spices from the street sometimes before you even see the door. It’s not a huge place with fancy decor or anything. We have simple wooden tables and chairs that have been here for years. Most of the people who come in are from around the neighborhood or people working nearby. We focus on the food more than anything else. My cousin helps out with the serving when it gets crowded on the weekends. Sometimes the floors get a bit slippery when we are rushing around with the plates. We make sure the dosa batter is ready every morning before the sun gets too high. It’s a lot of hard work standing on your feet all day, but seeing people finish their plates and ask for more chutney makes it okay. The New Delhi heat can be tough in the kitchen, but we have a couple of noisy fans going. It’s a family-run kind of feel here. We don't have a big menu, just the things we know how to make well. Masoodpur is a busy place, and we are glad to have our little corner here for anyone who wants a real meal.
