Kingfisher Airlines

Working out of Chambaghat in Solan is different from being at a big airport. We are based at M/S Sikand & Co. which is a familiar spot for people in this part of Himachal. The air is a lot clearer here than in the plains, though the winters get really cold. Our office isn't very large. It’s just a place where we handle the local side of things for the airline. Most of us have been here for a good amount of time. You get to know the neighbors and the people who walk past the office every day. Sometimes people stop by just to ask about flights or to drop off documents. It is a bit of a climb if you are walking up from the main road. The furniture is a bit old and the computers are usually humming in the background. We don't have those big glass walls you see in city offices. It feels more like a small-town workplace where everyone knows each other’s business. When the weather is nice, we leave the windows open to catch the breeze. It can get quiet in the afternoons when there isn't much movement on the street. We just keep track of the schedules and make sure the paperwork for the Solan region is sorted out. It’s straightforward work. No one is trying to be fancy here. We just do what needs doing and go home when the sun sets behind the hills. The mountains around us make the commute quite nice.
