Karnataka Restaurant

You can find us at the Edakkattil House in Indira Nagar, right near Kallachi in Calicut. This isn't a big city restaurant with bright lights. It’s a more personal setup, rooted right here in Kerala. Vipin Joseph started this because he wanted to bring the flavors he grew up with to the local community. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen, prep work starts early in the morning so everything is ready for the lunch rush. The house is always smelling like spices and fresh cooking. We don't have a team of waiters in uniforms; it’s more about the food and making sure people leave with a full stomach. It’s a bit of a journey to get out here if you aren't from around Calicut, but the locals know where we are. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on people telling their friends about the meals they had here. Sometimes we run out of certain dishes if it’s a busy day, but that’s because we only cook what we can handle. It’s a simple life here in Indira Nagar. We just keep our heads down, cook our food, and try to make sure every plate that goes out is something we’re okay with. It’s not fancy, but it’s real and it’s how we’ve always done it. We just want people to feel like they are eating at a friend's home when they visit us.
