Jindal Guest House

This guest house is basically Flat No. 22 in Chanakyapuri. It’s near the Sweden Embassy area, which is actually quite nice and quiet compared to the rest of New Delhi. We call it Jindal Guest House. It’s not like a big hotel with a lobby and a gym. It’s more like a home that has been turned into a place for people to stay while they visit the city. We spend a lot of time changing bedsheets and making sure there’s fresh water in the rooms. The address at Puri 110021 can be a bit tricky for drivers to find the first time, so we often have to go down to the gate and wave them in. The kitchen is small, just enough to make some eggs or tea for the guests in the morning. We have some old plants on the balcony that we try to keep alive, but the Delhi heat is tough on them. The curtains are a bit faded from the sun. People who stay here are usually here for work at the embassies nearby. We just try to keep the place tidy and the atmosphere calm. It’s mostly just us doing the laundry and answering the door. Chanakyapuri is a green part of town, so at least we have some trees to look at. It’s a straightforward job, looking after the flat and making sure the guests have what they need to be comfortable for the night.
