Jaypee Hotels has this small office at 213/7 on the third floor in Munirka. It’s Room Number 5, and the stairs up there can be a bit of a climb if you aren't used to it. Munirka is one of those places in New Delhi where the lanes are narrow and everything feels very close together. We spend our days handling the bookings and the paperwork that comes with running a hotel business. The walls are a plain color and we have a few old filing cabinets that have been here forever. It’s not a big sprawling space like the hotels themselves might be. It’s more of a place where the back-end stuff happens. You can hear the traffic from the main road even when the windows are shut tight. We usually get lunch from the local shops downstairs because there are so many options in Munirka. Sometimes the internet goes slow and we have to wait around to update the system, which is frustrating but that’s just how it goes. We have a couple of fans that stay on all day to keep the air moving. It’s just a few of us here managing the schedules and talking to the different departments. Most people don't even realize this office is here unless they are looking for the specific room number. We just keep things moving along day by day without making much of a fuss about it.
