We operate Jaya Express Pvt Ltd out of the village of Madhuban. It’s tucked away in the Malikpura post area of the Ghazipur district. Being out in the countryside means our day-to-day looks a bit different than a city courier. We don't have big automated sorting machines or fancy uniforms. Most of our work is done on the back of motorcycles or in small vans that know how to navigate the bumpy village roads. The office is a small room where we keep the parcels organized by which direction they need to go. It can get pretty hot and dusty during the summer months, but we just keep the door open and keep moving. We know pretty much everyone in the district, which makes delivering things a lot easier than it would be for a stranger. We don't need GPS most of the time because we know where every family lives and which house is which. Sometimes a delivery gets delayed because of a local festival or a flooded road, but we always make sure the packages get where they need to go. We aren't trying to compete with the global giants. We just want to make sure the people in our village and the surrounding areas have a way to send and receive their things. It’s honest work that keeps us connected to our neighbors and our home in Ghazipur.
