Jaipur Inn

Jaipur Inn is tucked away in Hauz Khas at D 32. It’s an old building, but it stays standing. We spend most of our mornings making sure the rooms are tidy and the linens are fresh. It’s a lot of laundry, to be honest. People come from all over, some stay for a night, others stay for a week or more while they’re working or just visiting the city. The neighborhood is okay, it has its busy times and quiet times. We’ve got some regular guests who know exactly which room they like. We don’t have a massive lobby or a fancy restaurant, just a place for people to sleep. Sometimes the plumbing acts up, being an older place, but we get it fixed. We handle the check-ins ourselves. If someone arrives late at night, one of us has to stay up to let them in. It’s just how it is. We try to keep things simple. There’s a lot of stairs, so we usually tell people about that before they carry heavy bags up. We aren't part of some big chain, it's just this one house here. We see a lot of faces pass through. Some people want to talk, others just want their key and to be left alone. We’re fine with both. The sun hits the front of the building nicely in the afternoons. It’s a place to stay if you just need a bed in Hauz Khas. We've been here long enough to see the shops around us change and the street get paved twice. It's just home for us now. We keep a pot of tea going most of the day, mostly for ourselves but we share if someone looks like they need it.
