Working at Ircon International Ltd at 16Block, 392 Lodhi Colony feels different than being in the new parts of the city. This part of Delhi has a lot of history and the old buildings really show that. Our office is tucked away in 16Block and it is a solid, sturdy place. It is nothing too modern or covered in glass like the buildings in Gurgaon. Working in Lodhi Colony means you get to see a lot of greenery every day compared to other parts of the city. The lunch hours are usually spent walking near the old quarters. Inside the office, it is mostly stacks of papers and people talking about various projects. We have been at this address for quite some time now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to those of us who have been here for years. It is quiet inside, which helps when you have a lot of numbers to crunch. We do not really have a big reception area or anything fancy like that. You just walk in and find someone at a desk. Most of the staff live nearby or take the bus to get here. It is a practical setup for the kind of work we do. 392 is just a number on the gate, but it is where we spend our lives. Sometimes the monkeys from the trees come onto the balconies.
