Intercontinental-The Grand, New Delhi

We are located at Flat No.107 in Sector-17G of Vasundhara, Ghaziabad. Even though our name is Intercontinental-The Grand, New Delhi, this specific office is actually across the border in Uttar Pradesh. It is a residential flat that we use for some of our administrative and back-end support work. It is a very different environment from the luxury you might expect at a hotel. Here, it is just a normal apartment with a few desks and some filing cabinets shoved into the rooms. There is a small balcony where we keep some cleaning supplies and take the occasional phone call when the room gets too noisy. Vasundhara is a busy residential area, so there is always the sound of traffic and people shouting from the street below. We don’t have any guests staying here; it is purely for the staff to handle the paperwork side of the business. The kitchen in the flat is where we make our own tea and store our lunches in a small fridge. The building itself is quite standard for Ghaziabad, with a lift that occasionally needs repairs and a narrow staircase. We like it because it is quiet enough to focus on the numbers and the scheduling without the constant interruptions of a busy lobby. It is a bit of a commute for those of us living in Delhi, but the area has good local markets where we can pick up things on the way home. It is a very practical, unpolished place to work.
