Our place is at H.No 8/78 in Mehram Nagar, right across from Terminal 1B at the IGI Airport. It’s a very specific spot, sitting behind the house of Rajinder Nambader. Being this close to the airport means you never really get any silence. You can hear the engines revving and the planes taking off all through the day and night. It’s a small, local neighborhood feel, which is strange when you think about how big the airline is. We’re not in a glass skyscraper. We’re in a house in a busy Delhi street where everyone knows each other. The 110010 postcode is always humming with activity. Inside, we’ve got desks squeezed into the rooms, and there’s always someone coming or going. We deal with a lot of the ground-level stuff that keeps things moving at the terminal. It’s a bit cramped sometimes, and the walls are covered with schedules and notes we’ve taped up over the months. We keep a big water cooler in the corner because it gets incredibly hot during the summer months. You can see the airport fence from just down the road. Most of us walk to work because parking around Mehram Nagar is a nightmare. It’s a down-to-earth environment. We don’t use a lot of big words or have long meetings. We just look at what needs to be handled for the next flight and get to it. It’s honest work in a noisy, busy part of town.
