Down here in Natagarh, the pace is a bit different than the center of Kolkata, but our office stays busy. We’re tucked away in Vivek Nagar, right on the 3rd Bye Lane of P.C. Roy Road. Working for Indian Hotels Company Ltd means there is always something that needs fixing or a guest who needs something extra. It's not all glitz and glamour behind the scenes; mostly it's just coordinating with the kitchen and making sure the rooms are ready on time. We spend a lot of time talking to the laundry staff and checking on the supplies coming in from the local markets. The heat in West Bengal can get pretty intense, so we try to keep things moving early in the morning before it gets too stuffed in the office. People arrive with big suitcases and high expectations, and we just try to keep things organized so they have a place to sleep. Sometimes the traffic on the way to the post office is a nightmare, which delays the paperwork, but we manage. It’s a lot of people working together in a cramped space to keep the whole machine running. We don't have fancy speeches about what we do. We just show up, put on the uniform, and handle whatever the day throws at us, whether it's a broken AC or a missing reservation.
