I’m located over at Smq/955/6 on the Air Force base here in Jodhpur. It’s a different kind of life living on the station. The dust in Rajasthan gets into everything, so you spend a lot of time just keeping things tidy. Everything is very orderly here, which I guess is expected. We have our routines and we stick to them pretty closely. The noise of the engines is something you just get used to after a couple of weeks; you don't even hear it anymore. My specific spot is in the residential quarters area. It’s not a big house, just enough for what’s needed. We see the same people every day at the mess or while walking to different parts of the base. It’s a close-knit community because we all live and work in the same fenced-in area. The sun is really intense in the afternoons, so most people stay inside if they can. We handle our daily tasks, whether it’s paperwork or maintenance, and just get on with it. There’s a lot of history in this district, and you feel it when you look at the old buildings nearby. It’s a practical place to be. We don’t have much in the way of extras, just the essentials to keep the operations going. Life moves at its own pace here, dictated by the heat and the schedule of the flights. It's a job that requires patience and a bit of discipline every single day.
