India Habitat Centre

I've been at the India Habitat Centre office for a while now. We are tucked away at Lane 6A, Z-12, in the Veetesta Enclave part of Kashmiri Colony. This is over on Paprawat Road in Najafgarh, New Delhi-43. It’s a bit of a trek to get here if you aren't living in this part of the city. The area is quite busy with people going about their business. Our office is nothing fancy, just a couple of rooms with some desks and chairs. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it doesn't really matter for the work we do. We have a small window that looks out onto the lane, and you can see the local kids playing cricket sometimes when school is out. It’s mostly quiet during the day, which is nice. We don't have a big sign or anything, so sometimes people have trouble finding the right building. We just tell them to look for the Z-12 mark. The morning starts with us cleaning off the dust from the desks, as Najafgarh can be a bit dusty. We spend our time going through files and talking on the phone. There is a small shop nearby where we get our lunch if we don't bring it from home. It's just a regular workplace with a small team of people. We keep things simple and just try to stay on top of our daily tasks and manage whatever comes through the door.
