India Habitat Centre is a big place, but we mostly stick to our corner at F-1. It is just an office where we show up every morning, turn on the lights, and get to work. Most days are spent answering phones and talking to folks who walk in through the door. The building itself is quite famous around Delhi, but for us, it is just the place where we keep our files and drink too much tea. We have been here for a good amount of time, seeing the seasons change through the windows. The staff here is just a small group of people who know each other well. We don't have fancy titles that mean much; everyone just helps out where they can. If someone is out sick, another person grabs their desk for a bit. It’s a bit messy sometimes with papers stacked up on the desks, and the printer usually makes a loud grinding noise when it’s working hard, but it gets the job done. People come here for all sorts of things, and we try to point them in the right direction. It’s not a corporate skyscraper vibe here; it’s more like a neighborhood spot where we know the tea stall guy outside by name. We just focus on getting through the daily list of things to do and making sure we haven't forgotten anything important before we lock up at night.
