Iias

The building we’re in is at B-128 in Zakir Bagh, right near Okhla Road. If you know the area, you know it’s always crowded and there’s always something happening outside. Inside, it’s a bit quieter, but not by much. We have students and people coming in and out all day long for whatever they need at Iias. There’s a lot of filing and organizing involved in what we do. The shelves are pretty much packed with folders and old records. Sometimes the traffic on Okhla Road makes it hard to hear, but we’re used to it by now. We spend a lot of time sitting at our desks, answering questions, or just trying to keep the place from getting too messy. It’s a simple setup, nothing too fancy. We have a small corner where we make tea, which is probably the most popular spot in the office. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall or anything like that. We just show up, do the work that’s in front of us, and try to help people out. New Delhi is a busy place, and Okhla is even busier, so we just try to stay focused. Every day is a bit different, depending on who walks through the door. We’ve been at this address for a while and we know the neighborhood pretty well, from the food stalls to the fastest way to get to the main road.
