Hyatt Regency, New Delhi

We are based way up in Almora at a place called Aashray in Dugal Khola. It belongs to Utkarsh Chawdhary, who is the son of Mr. Vijay Chawdhary. It might seem a bit strange for something connected to Hyatt Regency New Delhi to be located here in the hills, but this is where the personal side of the work happens. The house is tucked away in a quiet spot where the air is much cooler than down in the city. Life in Dugal Khola is different; there aren't many cars and you can hear the birds most of the day. We handle some of our communications from this address. The desk is near a window that looks out over the green slopes. It's a modest room with a computer and a lot of notebooks. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow because of the mountain terrain, but we manage to get things sent off eventually. People in the village know us, and it feels like a real community here. We don't have a reception desk or a concierge like the hotel. It is just a family home that serves as a base for Utkarsh’s work. When the winter comes, we have to use a small heater to keep our fingers moving on the keyboard. It is a long way from the big hotel in Delhi, but it’s where we do our thinking and planning. It’s a practical setup for someone who prefers the quiet of the hills.
