Running the Hyatt Regency Delhi is a lot of work for all of us here in the city. Even though the name sounds very grand, the people working here are just regular folks from all over Delhi. We spend our days walking the halls and making sure the rooms are okay and the lobby looks decent. The city outside is always moving fast, but inside these walls, we try to keep things a bit more steady. It’s a big building, so it takes a lot of us to keep it going, from the kitchen staff to the people at the desks. We don't really think about ourselves as some corporate entity; we are just a team of people trying to make sure the building stays standing and the guests aren't complaining. You’ll often find us in the back areas having a quick chat or sharing a meal when we get a break. The uniforms might look sharp, but we’re the same people who deal with the Delhi traffic and the heat every single day. We don't have a list of grand goals plastered everywhere. Instead, we just focus on the task right in front of us, whether that’s fixing a leak or checking someone in. It is a lot of hard work and being on your feet for hours. Delhi is a tough place to work sometimes, but we’ve made a bit of a community here. It’s just a job, but we try to do it right.
