Hotel Vikram,New Delhi

If you head over to A 34 in Vikas Vihar, you’ll find our spot, Hotel Vikram. Vikas Nagar is a busy area of New Delhi, and we’re right there in the middle of it. We’ve been running this place for a good while, and it’s become a bit of a second home for us. It’s not one of those huge, cold hotels you see in the movies. We’re a smaller operation where you’ll probably see the same few faces every day. We spend a lot of time making sure the rooms are tidy and the guests have what they need for the night. Sometimes the neighborhood is loud with the traffic from 110059, but that’s just Delhi for you. We don't have a massive lobby with fountains or anything like that. We just have a desk and some rooms and a hallway that we keep as clean as we can. We do the laundry ourselves most of the time, and we know which floorboard creaks when you walk over it. It’s a local business through and through. We talk to people who stay with us like they’re just visiting our house. There’s no script we follow when someone checks in; we just say hello and get them their keys. It’s a lot of work to keep a hotel going, but we like the routine of it. We just keep things moving and try to be helpful whenever someone asks for directions or a good place to eat nearby.
