Hotel The Grand

If you know Nelson Mandela Road, you probably know where we are. Hotel The Grand is right there in the middle of everything in New Delhi-70. It gets pretty loud outside with the traffic and the sirens, but once you step inside, things quiet down a bit. We spend most of our time making sure the rooms are ready and the lobby looks decent for whoever walks in. It’s a lot of work running a hotel, more than people think. There is always a lightbulb that needs changing or a guest who needs an extra towel at three in the morning. We don’t have a big corporate speech to give. We just show up, check the bookings, and try to make sure people have a place to sleep that isn't a mess. The staff here has been around for a long time, so we kind of know each other's habits. We see travelers from all over, some staying for a night and others for a week. It’s interesting to see who comes through our doors. Sometimes the kitchen gets really backed up during the breakfast rush, but we just keep moving and apologize for the wait. It is a big building to look after, and every day there is something new to fix or a different problem to solve. We just take it one guest at a time and try to keep things running smoothly without too much drama or unnecessary noise. We like the rhythm of it, even when it’s tiring.
