Hotel Shivkala

You can find Hotel Shivkala on the first floor of building D-19 in Fateh Nagar. It is not one of those massive hotels you see on the main highway; it’s more of a local place tucked into the neighborhood. Being on the first floor means people have to walk up the stairs, which can be a bit of a workout if they have heavy bags. We spend our time at the desk handling check-ins or talking to people who call to ask about rooms. The hallway is narrow and we try to keep it clean, but with people coming and going, there is always a bit of dust. Fateh Nagar is a busy area, but our floor stays relatively quiet once you get inside. We have some basic furniture, a few old pictures on the walls, and the light in the lobby area is a bit dim. we aren't trying to be a five-star resort; we are just providing a place for people to stay while they are in New Delhi. The staff here is small, just a few of us who take turns being at the front. We know the local shops well, so we can usually tell people where to get a good meal or find a chemist. The plumbing is old, so we have to keep an eye on it, and sometimes the air conditioning makes a bit of a rattling sound. It’s just a regular, honest place to work and stay for anyone passing through.
