Hotel Samrat

I've been working at Hotel Samrat for a few years now. It's tucked away at 528-Mantola in Paharganj. If you've ever walked through New Delhi's narrow lanes, you know how it gets here. It's noisy and crowded, but we're used to it. The building isn't fancy or anything, just a place to stay while people catch a train or do business. We spend most of our mornings checking the water tanks and making sure the sheets are sorted. Some days are busier than others, especially when the market nearby is really packed. It’s a basic setup. We’ve got some rooms that face the street and some that are quieter in the back. My boss started this place years ago. We try to keep things running smooth, though the electricity can be a bit of a headache sometimes in this part of town. We don’t have a big fancy lobby. It’s mostly just us sitting by the desk, chatting with people who come in from the heat. We know the neighbors pretty well. There’s a tea stall just down the road that we go to when things are slow. Dealing with the traffic around Paharganj is just part of the job. It’s just a regular local spot. Nothing too special about it, just a place where we do our work every day and keep the doors open for whoever needs a bed in this part of Delhi. It stays busy with travelers all year.
