Our office is inside Rohit Enterprises down in Lower Bhoot Nath Bazar. If you know Mandi, you know how busy the market gets. It is right there in Himachal Pradesh, postcode 175001. Most mornings we start by sweeping the dust off the doorstep because the street is always active. There are shops all around us selling everything from clothes to spices. We have a small desk and a couple of old computers that sometimes take forever to boot up. The name Holiday India sounds big, but we are just a few people sitting in a room talking to travelers. We drink a lot of local tea to stay warm when the mountain air gets chilly. The walls are painted a simple off-white and they could probably use a new coat soon. We don't have a receptionist in a suit. Usually, whoever is closest to the door just looks up and says hello. Sometimes the bells from the temple nearby are all you can hear. We keep our files in big plastic folders on the shelf. It’s a practical way to work. People walk in with mud on their shoes and we don't mind. We just handle the bookings and talk about the roads. It’s a simple life in the bazar. We don't try to be something we aren't. We are just here in Mandi.
