Haldiram Sacks Pvt Ltd is located in Shahdara, over at 6/136 Moh Lodhi in Farsh Bazar. If you know Delhi, you know how tight and busy the streets in Shahdara can get. We are right in the middle of all that activity. Our work is mostly about the sacks and packaging, so there is a lot of heavy material moving around. The building is an old-style structure at 110032, and it gets pretty loud with the machinery and the street noise outside. Farsh Bazar is always full of rickshaws and delivery carts, so getting things in and out is always a bit of a struggle. We don’t have a fancy reception area or air conditioning in the main work space. It’s just people working hard, surrounded by piles of fabric and thread. The tea seller comes by twice a day and that’s usually when everyone takes a break. It’s a dusty, busy environment, but that’s just the nature of the business in this part of Delhi. We’ve been in this Mohalla for a long time. People know the sound of our shutters opening in the morning. We don’t do much talking; we just focus on the orders and getting the sacks ready for the trucks. It’s a simple, gritty kind of life, and we just keep at it day after day. Sometimes the heat in the summer makes it tough, but we just drink plenty of water and keep the fans going. It’s just work.
