Ground Staff

Shamalkha Nsg Camp is a busy place, and we’ve been at House No. 2 for quite some time now. Being Ground Staff, we are pretty close to the airport, which makes sense. You can hear the planes taking off all day and night. It’s a bit loud, but you get used to it after a week or so. Our office is just a regular house, nothing fancy at all. We have some old desks and a few chairs for when people stop by. New Delhi 110037 is a crowded area, so parking is always a headache for us. We just do the daily work of managing things on the ground. Most of us have been here for years. It’s not a corporate gig with suits and ties. We wear what’s comfortable and get on with it. Sometimes the heat in Delhi is just too much, so we turn on the old desert cooler and hope for the best. We handle a lot of paperwork and talk to people coming and going from the airport. It’s honest work. My cousin used to work the gate, but now he’s in the office with me. We drink a lot of tea and try to stay organized. The street outside is narrow, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze for the delivery vans. We aren't trying to be some huge company. We just stay in our corner of Shamalkha and do what we know.
