Godavari Shilpkala Ltd

We've been at 35A in Savatri Nagar for a good while now. It’s part of the Malviya Nagar area here in New Delhi. Godavari Shilpkala Ltd isn't some giant corporation with a glass lobby and a receptionist in a suit. We are just a local bunch working out of this space. Santosh Seath is the specific spot where we spend most of our time. The building is older, and the stairs creak a little when you walk up, but it has a lot of character. Inside, there's usually the smell of sawdust or whatever material we are working with that day. We have some old wooden desks and chairs that don't quite match. Our days usually start with a cup of tea and a look at what needs to be finished by the evening. The neighborhood is pretty loud, with rickshaws buzzing past and people shouting, but once you're inside, it’s our little world. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements or shiny signs. Most people find us because they know the address or someone told them about us. We do shilpkala, which is craft work, and it takes a lot of time and patience. It’s not the kind of thing you can rush. Sometimes we get frustrated when a project doesn't go right, but we just keep at it until it's done. The post office nearby is where we spend a lot of time sending things out. It’s just a normal, busy life here in New Delhi.
