Being based in Chandni Chowk at Katra Neel is definitely an experience compared to the actual airport. It’s a completely different world down here in 704. The streets are narrow and there is always someone pushing a cart or shouting about something, which is a big contrast to the quiet, organized runways we deal with. We handle things for the Delhi International Airport from this old part of the city. It might seem strange to have an office for a modern airport tucked away in such an ancient area, but it works for us. We spend our days coordinating various aspects of what goes on at the terminals while sitting right in the heart of Delhi’s history. The building is old, and you have to dodge a lot of traffic just to get to the door. Inside, it is mostly us at our desks, talking on the phone or going through files about airport operations. It gets quite loud outside with the market noises, but you get used to it after a week or two. We don't have the fancy lounges or the shiny floors here, just a functional space where the back-end work gets handled. It is a lot of logistics and planning that most people never see when they are catching their flights. We just keep our heads down and do our part to keep the planes moving and the passengers happy, even if we are miles away from the gates.
