Gesture Hotel & Resort

We have been running things at 84-A Munerika in New Delhi for quite a few years now. It is just a regular building where travelers can find a place to sleep. We don't have a big lobby with fancy chandeliers or anything like that. It is mostly just rooms and a small desk where we keep the guest book. The area outside in Munerika is always loud with traffic and people walking to the market, but inside the rooms it is mostly quiet enough. My brother and I take turns watching the front door and making sure the water tanks are full in the morning. Sometimes the elevator gets stuck, so we tell people to use the stairs if they can. We don't spend money on big ads or anything. Most people who stay with us just saw the sign or heard about the place from someone else. We have a small area in the back where we keep the extra linens and some cleaning supplies. It’s a very simple operation. We try to keep the floors swept and the lights working. New Delhi is a huge, busy city and we are just one small spot in it. We don't have any big corporate rules. We just handle things as they come up. If someone needs a taxi or some extra tea, we just help them out. It’s a practical place to stay for a night or two without any unnecessary stuff. We’ve seen all sorts of people stay here.
