Genpact

The office is over on South Avenue in New Delhi. It is a central spot, so getting here usually involves dealing with a fair amount of traffic every morning, but that is just how it goes in this part of the city. Genpact is where we spend our days, mostly focused on the computers and keeping up with the tasks that come in. It is a large operation, but inside our specific area, it feels like any other workplace where people are just trying to get their jobs done before the day ends. We have rows of desks and a lot of wires tucked away under the floor tiles. There is always someone walking by with a coffee or heading to a quick meeting in one of the side rooms. The air conditioning is usually set a bit too cold for some of us, so many people keep a sweater or a jacket at their chairs. We handle a lot of data and different processes for people who are often in completely different time zones. It is steady work, and the rhythm of the office stays pretty much the same from Monday to Friday. Sometimes the shifts change, and you see a whole new group of people coming in while you are heading out to the parking lot. We do not have much time for standing around, but we chat a bit during the breaks near the water cooler. It is a functional place, nothing too fancy, just where we work.
