Ghaffar Market is where everyone goes for electronics, and we are right in the middle at Shop No 66. Friends Electronics is a bit of a squeeze. We have shelves packed with everything from wires to circuit boards. It’s a lot of looking through small bins for the right components. People come here when they can’t find a specific part anywhere else. We spend our time testing things and making sure they work before we put them in a bag. The market is always loud with people bargaining and carts moving through the narrow lanes. We have a small workbench at the back where we do the soldering and repairs. It’s usually covered in tools and bits of wire. The lighting isn't the best, but we have a couple of bright lamps for the close-up work. Sometimes we get orders for things we haven't seen in years. That makes it interesting. We don't really have a set routine other than opening up and seeing what the day brings. Most customers are regulars who know we’ve been here a while. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the long afternoons. The shop gets dusty fast because of all the construction nearby, so we are always wiping down the displays. It's a hectic place, but we have been here so long that we don't notice the noise anymore. We just focus on the gadgets.
