We are over at 30/14 in Gali No. 10. This is Vishwas Nagar, right in the heart of Shahdara. Our company, Foliflex Cables (India) Pvt. Ltd., has been running from this spot for quite some time now. It’s a busy area, full of narrow lanes and lots of people moving goods back and forth. Inside our unit, things are usually a bit cramped because of the big rolls of wire and the plastic we use for the coating. We spend our days making sure the copper is fed into the machines correctly. It’s not a quiet place. There is always the hum of the motors and the smell of warm insulation in the air. We don’t have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy brochures. It’s just us doing the work. Sometimes the machines act up or the power fluctuates, which is common around here, so we just deal with it. We make different kinds of cables for houses and factories. Most of our customers are locals or small contractors who have been buying from us for years. We keep a simple ledger for our sales. The walls could use a new coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that. We just focus on getting the orders out to the shops on time. It is a lot of manual labor and staying on our feet, but that is how we run things in Vishwas Nagar.
