This business is situated in Karauli village, which is part of the Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh. The mail comes through the Nandna post office. We call our operation Export because that’s what we focus on doing from this small corner of the world. It’s a rural area, so the roads aren't always the best for big trucks, but we manage to get things moving eventually. There is a lot of dust during the dry season, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment. We have a small warehouse where we store the goods before they are sent off. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We aren't trying to be some massive company. We just want to provide a decent living for our families while shipping out the local products. The building is made of basic concrete and it gets pretty warm in the afternoons. We usually take a long break when the sun is at its highest. There is a small chai stall just down the path where we all gather to talk about the day’s work. We don't use a lot of complicated technology. Most of our records are kept in thick notebooks with blue ink. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. We just keep working hard and hope the shipments arrive on time without too much trouble from the weather or the roads.
