You wouldn't expect to find an office for Emirates Airlines in a place like Vill-Khalishpur, but here we are. It’s located in the Po-Adri Indara area, which is part of the Mau district in Up. It is a lot different from the big offices they have in the cities. Here, things move at a much slower pace. We don't have hundreds of people coming in every hour. Mostly, it’s locals from the village who have questions about their relatives traveling or need help with some paperwork. I grew up not far from here, so I know most of the people who walk through the door. The office is just a simple room with a couple of chairs and a fan that squeaks a little when it’s on high. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back on. It’s quite peaceful, actually, compared to the noise of New Delhi. We don't have a big neon sign or anything. People just know where we are. It’s more about being a familiar face for the community. I spend my time checking the computer and making sure the details are correct. It’s a quiet life in Mau, and working here is just a part of that. We don't try to act like we are in a high-rise building. We just do our bit every day.
