Anish V. Punnackattu runs the editing work from a second-floor space at 155 C in Savitri Nagar. It’s a busy little neighborhood near Malviya Nagar in New Delhi 110017. The office is basically just a room filled with books and stacks of paper that need reading. Being on the second floor is good because it stays a bit quieter than the street level but you still hear the vegetable sellers shouting in the morning. Editing is slow work and requires a lot of sitting still. The furniture is a bit mismatched and the shelves are overflowing. We don't have a big staff here. It is mostly just Anish doing the heavy lifting and maybe someone helping out with the admin stuff. There is a small balcony where we go to get some air when the screen gets too tiring to look at. The kitchen usually has some tea biscuits and a kettle that’s always on. It is an honest way to make a living. We don't have fancy software for everything. Sometimes we still use a red pen on physical paper because it feels better. The neighborhood is full of narrow lanes and it’s easy to get lost if you aren’t from around here. We just stay focused on the words and try to get the work finished by the deadline. It’s a simple, hardworking atmosphere. Our neighbors are mostly families so we try not to stay too late into the night. It is just about getting the text right.
