Department Of Botany

This is the Department of Botany located at H.No. C 20 on Reids Line in Delhi. It is an old building, and you can tell by the way the doors creak and the smell of old paper and dried plants. We spend our days surrounded by samples and research notes. It’s a quiet life here on Reids Line 110007. Students come in and out, asking questions or looking for books for their projects. The garden outside isn't always perfectly kept, but we like the wildness of it. We have some labs that are a bit cramped, filled with glass jars and microscopes that have been here for decades. It’s not a shiny new research facility. It’s a place where real learning happens in a messy, hands-on way. We often have tea in the afternoon and talk about what we’re studying. The faculty members have their own small desks tucked into corners behind piles of journals and old folders. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait it out, but that’s just part of being in this old part of Delhi. We aren't a big institution with lots of funding. We are just a group of people who really care about plants and science. It’s a slow-paced environment, very different from the busy streets just a few blocks away. It feels like a little world of its own here. We hope the plants keep growing and the students keep coming.
