Our office is tucked away in Sandila, right in the Hardoi district. It’s a bit of a specific location, being near the Saraswati Vidya Mandir school. Dealing with trucks and roadways across the long distance between Delhi and Assam means there’s always something going on. We handle a lot of the paperwork and logistics from this spot in U.P. It’s mostly just making sure drivers know where they’re going and that the cargo is moving. The roads can be rough and delays happen, so we spend a lot of time on the phone. My father, Ram Niwas Shukla, started things off, and we just keep it going. It’s not a shiny corporate headquarters with glass walls. It’s more of a practical space where we get the real work done. We’ve got a lot of files and ledgers because keeping track of trips to the Northeast is no small task. People in Saklala know where to find us if they need to talk about a shipment. Sometimes the power goes out or the internet is slow, but the trucks have to keep moving regardless. We just focus on the day-to-day reality of transport. It’s a lot of long hours and checking in on locations, but that’s just how the transport business works out here in the rural parts of Hardoi. We stay busy with the local needs as well as the long hauls.
