Customer Interface Officer

We are set up at 249 in the Old Housing Board Colony in Karnal. It’s a very quiet part of Haryana, mostly just families and older houses around us. The office is basically a converted room where we manage the interface side of things for the customers. There are a lot of registers on the shelves and a couple of old desks that we’ve had since we started. Most of the time, the work involves answering queries and making sure the paperwork for the district is in order. It’s not a big team, just a couple of us who know the local area well. The neighbors sometimes stop by just to say hello or ask about some local news. We don't have fancy uniforms or a big branded entrance. You just walk up to the door and knock. The curtains are usually drawn to keep the afternoon heat out. We drink a lot of tea while sorting through the files. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other times it stays silent for hours. It’s a steady pace of work. We handle whatever comes across the desk, whether it's a complaint or just someone needing help with a form. Living and working in Karnal has a specific rhythm to it. We don't rush things unnecessarily but we make sure the job is done before we lock up for the evening. It’s a simple operation in a very familiar and friendly street.
